-- Some notes and extra information about the install process --

* If you are installing on a PC that will be doing scanning, select Batch
Scanner Workstation. If the PC will be used for image manipulation, but
not scanning, select Batch Imaging Workstation. If the PC will be used
for the Voter application itself only, select CMIS Voter Workstation.
CMIS Voter Server Installation is not currently used. The Batch Scanner
and Batch Imaging Workstation setups are almost identical, with the
defaults set to optimize the installer's time.

* If the install process on a WinNT PC aborts immediately stating only
that the installation aborted with an Internal Error, giving you an
OK button to click on, check the TEMP environment variable. Be sure
it points to a directory that exists. While this is a cryptic error
and may mean something else, this is a known cause of the error.

* The setup process may reboot without prompting following the completion
of the Microsoft Data Access Components. If this happens, select the same
Voter & Election Management System sub-components, with the exception of
MDAC and Microsoft Access 2000 Runtime Components (the latter would have
been installed prior to MDAC), and perform the installation process
  again.

* At the end of the Visioneer PaperPort software installation, the Visioneer
software will prompt you to restart the computer. Say no, so that the
remainder of the CMIS installation can complete, then the computer can be
  rebooted.

* If the setup process installs Imaging for Windows95, the primary CMIS
installation will continue before the Imaging installation has completed.
Both installations can run at the same time. The Imaging for Win95 may
display a dialog box stating that it was trying to copy an older version
of a file (such as a DLL). If this happens, say "Yes" to keep the newer
version that was previously installed on the PC.

* If the setup process installs the Visioneer PaperPort software, the primary
CMIS installation may continue before the PaperPort Calibration has
completed. If the Calibration portion begins, follow the instructions. It
will not be a problem for the CMIS installation to continue in the
background. In some circumstances, the calibration will not begin until
after the PC has been rebooted.

* The install package may prompt you to reboot the PC at the beginning of the
installation process so that OLE files can be updated. If this happens,
allow it to reboot, and when the PC is back up, the installation package
will be executed again. Just select the same options you did previously,
  and the installation will continue.

* If you are installing the CMIS software on an NT workstation where the
logged-in user does not have local administrator rights, the setup package
will notify you of this, and ask you to log in with an account that has
the appropriate privileges. After this prompt, the installation package will
exit. You must log in with an appropriate account for the installation
  process to work.

* If the destination PC has a screen resolution less than 800x600, the setup
process will notify you of this and ask you if wish to change it. The
reason this is done is that the CMIS applications must be viewed at 800x600
or better for proper usage. If you select to change it at that time, the
Display Properties applet for Control Panel will be shown so the resolution
can be changed. If the PC has to be restarted after changing the resolution,
the installation package will be started automatically, and you can continue
with the installation process. If you select NOT to change the resolution at
the time you are prompted, the package will notify you that the CMIS
applications will not be viewed properly and that you should change it at a
later time. The installation process will then continue normally.

* If you are installing the CMIS software on a workstation that does not have
Internet Explorer loaded on it or has a version prior to 3.01, the
installation process will not work. You must install Internet Explorer
(preferably version 4.x or 5.x) BEFORE installing the CMIS applications.
This is necessary for the Microsoft Office 2000 Components to function
  properly.

* The installation program will not show how much disk space is necessary to
install the various components as you are selecting the components. It will
properly display how much space is remaining on the destination disk. Once
all components have been selected and the installation process has begun,
the installation program will notify you if there is not enough space
remaining to install the components you selected.

* If you hit Escape during the installation process, the program will assume
you want to abort the installation. If you do wish to exit the install,
select "Exit Setup". If you wish to continue with the installation, select
  "Resume".

* The MDAC, Jet, and Office 2000 Components installs will be silent installs,
which means you will see no prompts from them, just progress monitors. The
installations for the other third party products (Imaging Pro, Imaging for
Win95, Visioneer PaperPort, and CFM Twain) will require input from the user
for destination directories, the type of scanner attached to the PC, etc.

* Whenever Microsoft Data Access Components are selected, the latest Jet
service pack will also be installed, immediately following the MDAC install.
You will not see any prompts or dialog boxes from it.

* If you are installing on a Windows NT workstation, you should leave the
option for "Eastman's ImagingPro 2.0" selected. The BatchImaging application
will not function properly if it is not installed. If you are installing on
a Windows95 or Windows98 machine and Imaging Pro 2.0 has not been previously
installed, you can deselect the Imaging Pro 2.0 option. If you do this, the
install package will install Imaging for Windows95 in its place.

* The "Generic CFM Twain Source" sub-component will not be used in most
circumstances. There may be times where hardware and software conflicts
require us to install a difference Twain source. This would be the sub-
component to use in those situations.
